Bio & Education:


Donna is a native of Greenville, SC and licensed with the South Carolina Board of Examiners for Counselors, Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists. She has earned the following credentials:

  • Masters of Science in Psychology from Nova Southeastern’s Clinical Counseling Program.

  • Has served on the International Academy for Eating Disorder Board of Directors, is currently a member of Columbia University’s Global Mental Health Advisory Board and is a Board of Director for Project Heal, a non profit organization that supports and funds treatment for eating disorder patients who cannot afford treatment.

  • Has spoken nationally and Internationally on the subject of Eating Disorders

  • Teaching Certificate from University of Michigan Ann Arbor

  • BA from the College of Charleston in Political Science

Donna's Approach:

Donna’s uses her lived experience as an individualized approach to treatment. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT)but is well versed in other treatment modalities.


Some specific interests include:

  • Eating Disorders

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Other mood disorders

  • Relationship and communication problems

Donna’s approach is individualized counseling and uses non judgmental compassionate support to each of her clients. She offers coaching and various degrees of support depending on client’s needs. Her lived experience both as a sufferer of an Eating Disorder and carer of a child with an Eating Disorder, Donna has an unusual perspective and approach to treatment and recovery.


Most recently Donna spoke at Duke University on Severe and Enduring Anorexia Nervosa. She is also the Founder of the Friedman Center for Eating Disorders at the Medical University of South Carolina. She has been in private practice for three years.


She is married and a mother to four children.
